Over-the-range microwaves are all pretty similar to one another—and they’re not notably better than good countertop models. But one of these can save you some space, while doing double-duty as a basic range hood. We recommend the GE JVM6175 because it has better controls and an easier-to-use interface than most. We also found that it heats a bit more evenly than most other OTR models we tested.
