If you like mattresses that give you a truly body-conforming, pressure-relieving hug, the Tempur-Pedic brand, which has been around since 1992, is hard to beat. In our past two group tests, the entry-level hybrid Tempur-Adapt (which also comes in an all-foam version) has emerged at or near the top of the heap. We’ve also compared the Tempur-Adapt with Tempur’s pricier models in-store and found that you don’t need to spring for the top-of-the-line options to reap the benefits of Tempur-Pedic’s signature memory-foam sink.

With a luxurious slow-sinking foam and sturdy edge support, the Tempur-Adapt (Medium Hybrid) feels leagues ahead of most mattresses we’ve tried. But it also costs two to four times as much as many foam mattresses that come in a box.
